If you are new to essential oils all the available information might seem quite overwhelming and intimidating. The individual oils and their effects, precautions, and so on, can be vastly different and complex. Although there are, of course, a lot of essential oils that are safe for beginners and extremely easy to use. Below I will share a few of the oils that are great for anyone that just wants to have a basic kit, before they fully delve into this world and buy an entire collection of essential oils.

Lavender Essential Oil (Lavandula angustifolia)

This essential oil has a distinctive, wonderfully calming, and pleasant scent, that I'm sure we’re all familiar with. It is a great once to use when you feel strung out or stressed. It is a soft, relaxing and soothing essential oil that can ease your anxiety issues and even help you asleep, if you are having trouble falling and staying asleep.

Lemon Essential Oil (Citrus limon)

Lemon essential oil is often used in cleaning products and cosmetics. It has an invigorating, fresh, citrusy scent that can clear your airways and easily and quickly boost your mood. It can even boost your metabolism! Another great oil to start your collection with. It can be a bit drying so make sure you use a moisturizing carrier oil if you intend to use lemon oil on your skin. On the plus side it’s drying properties can help your control the amount of oil your skin produces, if you are struggling with oily skin.

Peppermint Essential Oil (Mentha balsamea)

This one is a strong and quick energy booster that can quickly help your get over an afternoon slump. The minty scent is incredibly invigorating. It has a soothingly cooling feel to it, which is why it’s often used in muscle and joint creams and ointments.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil (Eucalyptus)

Eucalyptus essential oil is another one of those we tend to associate with cleanliness. It has a very specific fresh and grassy scent. It’s a great remedy for flu and cold related issues, mainly those within the respiratory system (mucus, coughing, etc.)

All of these oils are versatile, have a wonderful scent, and can be used in various ways. You really can’t mess up, if you decide to start with one of these essential oils.
